Mural and museum

“The People’s Museum”

This people’s museum consists of a 1,200,000 gallon water tank with murals circling the tank. The murals depict the progress of the U.S. Space program from its beginning until the fatal accident of the Space Shuttle Challenger. Near the water tank is a 1/8 scale replica of the Challenger Shuttle a V-2 rocket and other artifacts.  The adjacent 6,000 sq foot museum houses donated artifacts from the space program, photographs, related newspaper and magazine articles. Additionally there is a mock-up of the Mercury capsule and a video showcasing astronauts. The museum also houses a small gift shop with items specifically related to the space program and space exploration.

Entry is free but donations are appreciated.
